When performed alone, an under eyelift is usually used to remove bags from under the eye. An under eyelift surgery can also be part of a larger eyelift procedure for both upper and lower eyelids.

Under Eye Lift Incision
For the surgical removal of fatty deposits, incisions can either be made on the inside or the outside of the lower eyelid. The incision just inside the eyelid prevents any potential scar from being visible. The incision on the outside of the lower eyelid is a much more common practice and is made along the lower eyelash so any scaring will be hidden. The plastic surgeon will either use absorbable sutures or allow the tiny incision to heal by itself. It depends on the nature of the procedure.
Side Effects of Eyelift Surgery
Some patients report a feeling of tightness around the eyelids immediately after the procedure. There will be severe degrees of bruising and swelling to be expected which will become less drastic after a couple days. The initial resting period after surgery is around 2 to 3 weeks and after that period the skin around the eyes will begin to get better. There may be some itching or burning sensations which should also go away within a short period of time. One of the great things is that scarring is minimal due to the strategic location of the incision.
