Now a part of Medicis(R), LipoSonix offers a quick, convenient and non invasive ultrasound fat removal system that can reduce up to an inch after just one session. It has been cleared by the European Union and Canada.
What is Ultrasound Fat Removal?
By using focused ultrasound waves, the treatment can target fat cells under the skin without surgery. It is particularly popular for treating areas like the hips, thighs and stomach where stubborn fat is hard to eliminate with traditional dieting and exercise.
The sound waves travel at a very specific frequency that causes the fat cells to break down without causing harm to the cells of surrounding tissue. The broken down fat is picked up and removed naturally by the body as waste.
The treatment session will last one hour and results can be expected in the following 8 to 12 weeks. This is the amount of time it will take for the body to eliminate the fat.
Some patients report feeling a slight tingling sensation but there is no pain. It is a quick procedure and the patient is able to return to work immediately after the fat removal treatment.
Who is LipoSonix Ultrasound Fat Removal For?
LipoSonix is only available through qualified healthcare professionals in Canada and Europe. It is not cleared for sale in the United States at the time of this writing but that can change soon and we’ll be sure to post an update when that happens.
There are some limitations that restrict a person’s eligibility to under LipoSonix. The client must be at least 18 years old and should have at least 1 inch or 2.5 cm of fat to lose in the area where the treatment is desired. It is not recommended for women who are pregnant or might be pregnant.
It is not a substitution for liposuction surgery and cannot remove a large amount of fat. Ultrasound can only treat small amounts of fat in specific areas but is perfect for people who want to reduce localized deposits of body fat without surgery.
Side Effects of the LipoSonix Treatment System
Most common side effects of this non surgical liposuction are mild and usually not serious. These include conditions such as some discomfort or pain and sensations of cold, tingling, pricking or warmth during the treatment. In the days following the treatment, it is normal to experience some degree of bruising, swelling, soreness or redness. If conditions do not improve after a couple days it is a good idea to seek the advice of your physician or healthcare professional.
