Facial Liposuction

For some patients, facial liposuction can be a safer alternative to other surgical procedures like a face lift. By removing deposits of fatty tissue in certain areas, the patient can enjoy a slimmer, more youthful looking face.

The most commonly used technique is laser liposuction which is effective for removing unwanted pockets of fat with great detail and precision.

Facial Laser Liposuction

Liposuction surgery with the assistance of laser technology offers many benefits for both the surgeon and patient. It allows for much more accuracy in targeting and removing unwanted fat and that comes in handy when dealing with facial areas. Facial laser liposuction can be an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia so the patient is able to go home the same day after the treatment is complete. They will need someone else to drive them home for safety reasons.facial-liposuction

The procedure is performed with a small fiber optic which guides the laser to the area where the fat is to be removed. The heat generated by the laser literally melts the fat while a tiny cannula performs the suction to remove the liquefied fat. The heat from the laser also offers the added side effect of causing collagen in the skin to contract for tighter, smoother skin.

Facial Treatment Areas

Liposuction can be performed to just about any part of the face. The most common include the chin, jaw line, around the cheeks and neck. Sculpting the chin and jaw line can do wonders in redefining the shape of the face. Removing small amounts of fat around the cheeks will make the face look younger and more rested as the skin tightens over the area where the fat is displaced. Under the chin sagging jowls can be reduced or eliminated with liposuction as well as unsightly neck rolls caused by accumulation of fat around the neck.

Facial Liposuction Cost

As with any plastic surgery, the cost of facial liposuction depends on the area being treated and the amount of fat to be removed. It also depends on the physical location of the surgeon performing the surgery. On average, treating a single area can cost anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000 or more. Since it is considered to be a purely cosmetic procedure the bill will not be covered by medical insurance.

Recovery and Post Surgical Care

It is important to follow post surgical care instructions provided by your plastic surgeon as closely as possible. Antibiotics may be prescribed to prevent infections and a compression garment could speed up recovery. Some discomfort along with swelling and bruising is common but are usually mild and temporary during the healing process. Patients typically are cleared to return to work within a week and it is always a good idea to avoid excessively strenuous activities until your body has fully recovered.
