The price of laser hair removal can vary quite significantly between individuals and it depends on factors such as the geographical location and amount of hair to be removed. Another important factor is the pricing system that your clinic uses to determine how much to bill you.
In general a clinic will use either a fixed price for each area of the body or charge based on the number of laser pulses required to complete the treatment. Some places will actually charge based time and how long it takes to complete your laser hair removal treatment.
Fixed Price Per Area
Some clinics simplify their pricing structure down to one fee for each area of the body. It means one price for that area of the body regardless of the amount of hair. Requests to treat multiple areas might result in a discount off the total of the combined prices for the two or more areas. Some places offer a package for popular parts of the body at one flat fee. This is a simple system and can be beneficial for people with a lot of hair in one area or thick hair that is hard to treat.
Per Pulse Pricing
Each pulse is a single firing of the laser which can target as many as one hundred hair follicles and lasts for a fraction of a second. Some clinics will bill their patients based on the number of pulses fired to complete their desired treatment.
Usually, there is a minimum number of pulses that have to be purchased upfront and you will be billed for that block of pulses if your treatment does not require that many pulses. The advantage here is that touch up sessions in the future will become more affordable as your treatments will require fewer pulses to get the touch up job done.
Time Based Pricing
This pricing system usually charges patients in chunks of 15 minutes. This would a relatively fair system except the total cost is dependent on factors such as the speed of the laser hair removal machine or the speed at which the technician operates the laser. Other factors include amount of hair and the thickness of the hairs.
Laser hair removal prices will be different for every individual because each treatment is tailored to their needs. To get an accurate estimate of what your treatment will cost, visit a local clinic. Most places will offer complimentary consultation.
